I have to learn more on using this for a tool. I do think it will help on getting car to run in different weather settings. Probably should have paid extra for option letting me download and save info. Can it be added to my version?

Hi, The standard (non-LiNk) models can download data to a PC or a Mac only with the Kestrel USB Data Transfer Cable which can be found in our Kestrel Accessories section. If you want the LiNK model, we can send you a pre-paid return label for the meter you have. You can purchase the LiNK version anytime. The LiNK model can transfer data via Bluetooth to a smartphone along with the Kestrel App. The LiNK model can use the Kestrel Data Transfer Cable as well. If you have any other questions please ask!

Great unit I am sure but no supporting software
I was very excited to get this. That was until I found There was no software to use with it. Including Crew Chief Pro, "Who say they do not have any time for this project" Being the replacement for the 4250 I was let down to to find would not work with any thing the 4250 did. I have searched this site on and off this week and neither or Kestrel have any usable software. They do not even have any information on how to use the download software, I could easily give more stars if the racing meter could be used for racing

      Preguntas frecuentes

Some questions and answers are automatically generated.

Is this accurate enough for racing tuning decisions?
Yes. Multiple reviewers confirm the 5100 delivers accurate measurements and helps with weather-related tuning and performance optimization. The product description emphasizes it is "just as accurate, reliable and user-friendly as the original Kestrel 4250" and is purpose-built for race-track decisions.
Does it work with the optional LiNK wireless feature?
The 5100 comes in two versions: standard and with LiNK Bluetooth connectivity. If you choose the LiNK model, it transmits live measurements to iOS or Android devices up to 100 feet away (line of sight) and can sync data to computers via an optional Bluetooth USB Dongle.
Can I use it hands-free at the track?
Yes, the optional Kestrel Vane Mount allows hands-free measurements logged over the course of the day, making it practical for continuous track monitoring.
Is the meter portable and easy to carry?
Yes. The compact, portable design is designed specifically to take to the track. Several reviewers note satisfaction with the product, and the description emphasizes its portability as a key feature.
What weather factors does it measure?
The 5100 measures moisture content in grains, air density, relative air density, humidity, and other critical environmental factors needed for accurate race predictions and tuning decisions.
Does it require special software to use?
The basic meter functions without software and provides direct measurements. However, one older reviewer noted that additional software options (like integration with Crew Chief Pro) are not available or documented, so you may want to confirm current software compatibility before purchasing if data logging is important to you.
