Nature can turn on you at a moment's notice.

The Kestrel 2500 takes the great features of the Kestrel 2000 and adds in a pressure sensor.

Predict fish and wildlife activity as well as when bad weather is headed your way with the three-hour pressure trend indicator. With its easy-to-use digital pressure altimeter, you have the perfect instrument for any outdoor activity - get conditions in seconds right in the palm of your hand. In addition to predicting weather activity, barometric pressure also influences a bullet’s trajectory, which is why the Kestrel 2500 is used by shooters and hunters when accuracy is important.

Note: The Kestrel 2500 in Olive Drab with NV has a night-vision preserving backlight which helps users to sustain natural night vision. The NV's backlight incorporates an optical filter to reduce overall brightness and minimize blue and green spectrum light to preserve night vision. Additionally, NV backlights are also much dimmer than a standard backlight, making it more difficult to detect with the naked eye in night operations. This backlight appears soft greyish pink, not red, and is still in the visible spectrum, so it is not compatible with night-vision equipment. It takes 30 to 45 minutes for the average eye to adapt to darkness and maximize night vision. Even a short burst of white, yellow, green or blue light “bleaches out” the rod cell photo-receptors in the eye and causes night blindness until the entire adaptation process can take place again. Light in the red spectrum does not cause this “bleaching out”, preventing night blindness and night vision fatigue.

  • I have a 2500 serial no. XXXXXXX. The wind fan is broken. Can it be replaced? Could I get the part and replace it myself? How much for the part if so. I don\'t know how long I\'ve had it but am doubtful that it is still under warranty. It was not dropped, but the fan just came apart.

I have good news for you! If your meter looks like models we have on our site, the impeller is replaceable. The entire black section can push out and a new one pushed in. You can find the impellers here: Kestrel user replaceable impeller.

  • Does the 2500 record min max temperatures like the 2000 does?

Both the 2000 and 2500 record max and average wind speed and wind chill but not min, max, temperature. For that, you would need a Kestrel 5 series weather meter.

  • I am looking to get a somewhat accurate barometer to read pressure and was wondering about the Kestrel 2500, what units will it display for pressure and temperature, and how accurate are they?

The pressure units which can be changed are inHg, hPA and mb. For accuracy, see Kestrel 123 Series Certificate of Conformity & Sensor Specifications on our Resources page

  • I'm looking for an instrument that will give a ten minute wind speed average. Will this model ( Kestrel 2500 ) do that? if so what is the process to get it on and from the instrument?

The 2500 will record the average wind speed for as long as it is on. When you turn it on, it will start recording the average wind speed. It will report it on the screen. If you want something to actually record, log and be downloadable, check out the Kestrel 5000 or Kestrel 5500 weather meters. Both store data which can be downloaded either wirelessly (LiNK enabled models only) using the Kestrel smartphone LiNK app or with the help of the Kestrel USB Data Transfer Cable to a PC or MAC.

  • Hi, I was interested in finding out more information about your Kestrel 2500 weather meter, specifically the units and accuracy of the barometric pressure that it displays, can I change the units of the barometric pressure? Also does it measure air temperature? How accurate is it?

The 2500 as all Kestrel Meters are extremely accurate. There are no cheap sensors used in a Kestrel. The pressure units which can be changed are inHg, hPA and mb. • what is the size and weight of the Kestrel 2500 Handheld Weather meter? Are batteries included in the Kestrel 2500 Handheld Weather meter?

Hi! The Kestrel 2500 weighs in just under 4 ounces. This includes the lanyard, slide on case and meter itself. It is 1" thick x 2-7/8" wide x 5" long (inches). Dimensions are of the meter inside slip-on case. The case is not much larger than the meter itself though. The Kestrel 2500 uses one CR2032 lithium battery. One battery is included inside the meter. Thanks!
